Tods Murry LLP, United Kingdom

Tods Murray have been at the forefront of Islamic finance developments in Scotland since 2004, through Tods Murray partner and head of the firm’s Banking and Finance team, Graham Burnside, who is an executive board member of the Islamic Finance Council UK (IFC).

In 2005, Graham created the first Islamic mortgage for Scotland and more recently has worked on a new Shari'a compliant product (mentioned below) for the Islamic Bank of Britain (IBB).

Scotland and Scots law provide the ideal conditions to support the development of a new range of recession-beating Islamic finance products and we believe that the flexibility of Scots law coupled with the nation's tradition of innovation in financial services makes Scotland a natural home for the world's Islamic financial institutions, which have continued to expand despite the global economic downturn.
